EEG Correlates of
Kundalini Activation

With Juan Acosta-Urquidi, PhD, QEEGT
August 23, 2019

Kundalini, the life force energy of spiritual awakening has been described in the Hindu contemplative and yogic traditions for centuries. The secrets of Kundalini have been buried in esoteric texts guarded by masters. Kundalini is a spiritual energy presumed to reside at the base of the spine and when awakened, it is believed to catalyze spiritual evolution and lead to a higher state of consciousness and integration of body mind and spirit. Practitioners of meditation and Yoga, particularly Tantric traditions, are most familiar with this state. Kundalini awakening can be developed in devotees by these practices, under the guidance and supervision of a competent teacher (guru) to ensure safety and proper integration but can also arouse spontaneously during breath work (pranayama), NDEs, visionary states, singing, dancing, music (listening and making), ecstatic moments in nature, fasting, injury, trauma, or without apparent cause.

The phenomenology of Kundalini activation is well documented, but the psychophysiology is yet to be fully described and understood scientifically. The present EEG studies explore some neural correlates and provide objective validation of a profound and transformative subjective experience. Kundalini activation is recorded as a high voltage discharge of Delta and Theta brainwaves, followed by increased Beta and Gamma power. The subjects report an ecstatic multi orgasmic experience lasting tens of minutes following the initial discharge. These pioneering studies aim to demystify this remarkable phenomenon.

Bio of Speaker

After 25 years of laboratory basic research in cellular neurophysiology, Dr. Acosta entered the field of QEEG (quantitative electroencephalography) in 1996. Initially, he worked with QEEG to test photic and auditory driving responses to mind machines. He then joined an NIH-funded project in alternative medicine at the UW Medical Center, Seattle, to test pulsed magnetotherapy on neurologic patients suffering MS. He also pursued research with Energy Healers, at a time when he was initiated as a Reiki Master.

He has conducted pioneering QEEG and HRV (heart rate variability) measurements with healers, mystics and shamans. Dr. Juan Acosta-Urquidi is an explorer charting new ground in the interface of Science, Healing and Spirituality. Recent pioneering work has focused on QEEG studies of entheogen-induced visionary states, as well as meditation, Kundalini and neurotechnology.

"In the Lakota-Sioux tradition, a person who is grieving is considered most wakan, most holy. There's a sense that when someone is struck by the sudden lightning of loss, he or she stands on the threshold of the spirit world. The prayers of those who grieve are considered especially strong, and it is proper to ask them for their help.

"You might recall what it's like to be with someone who has grieved deeply. The person has no layer of protection, nothing left to defend. The mystery is looking out through that person's eyes. For the time being, he or she has accepted the reality of loss and has stopped clinging to the past or grasping at the future. In the groundless openness of sorrow, there is a wholeness of presence and a deep natural wisdom."― Tara Brach

Please join us as we meet again in circle to witness, share and support each other on the multi-faceted journey of living on Earth during these challenging times. Our focus will be on loss and grief. Bring a poem, or a piece of art, or something that feels appropriate to share.

Meeting is at Judy Kitt's house. Contact Judy[at] with questions or to RSVP.

An Introduction to

Robert Gilbert from the Vesica Institute will be offering both the Foundation Course (5 days- September 28th -Oct 3rd) and Advanced Course (Oct 5th – 9th), with a Friday night lecture on Sept 27th.  BioGeometry is a very important field, both in terms of achieving a better understanding of the nature of the world, how energies affect us, how we can harmonize those energies, as well many practical tools to improve our lives.

For those who do not know much about BioGeometry and thus do not know if you should plan to commit the time and expense to take the Foundation Course, I thought it would be important for you to learn some fundamentals of BioGeometry and so you would have a better basis to make your decision on attending the valuable course which Robert will be teaching.  For details and flyer about the course, check the flyer: [].

My discussion on BioGeometry will be on Saturday, September 7th, from 4 – 6 pm, at my Nuvora office.  Send Jerry an email and he will email you directions to Nuvora since they are located in a big complex.  The address is 3350 Scott Blvd, Bldg 5, #502, Santa Clara.

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for the fact that while my comfort is built on human ingenuity and invention which is miraculous, it is also built on the pollution of my land, air and water. I am sorry that people live in places which cannot sustain them, that suffer war and drought and flood and despair, and need help that I am not there to offer them.

Please forgive me.

Please forgive me for my unconsciousness of those who suffer.  Please forgive me for any hurt I have caused rising from indifference, selfishness, misdirected thoughts or words. Please forgive me for my faults and for the cruelty and suffering in the world caused by humanity, of which I am a part. I stand and acknowledge and own my participation, silent and intentional, and ask for forgiveness. I am human and not separate from nor better than any other. Please forgive any negative or destructive thoughts I have had that add to the collective field of fear and anger held within humanity.

Thank you.

Thank you for this opportunity to see and let go of anything that obstructs the clear flow of presence and intent of my soul on earth. Thank you for giving forgiveness and freeing me from constrictions that erupt from separation and self-protection, from fear and defensiveness. Thank you for sharing with me this world we love and the capacity to be in communion with spirit and with each other.

I love you.

In our unity in God and Gaia, I love you.  In our shared responsibility for each other, I love you. From all the depths of my being that I am capable at this time of reaching, I love you.
